Bills and toe-shoes

I'm not too prideful to say that I spent a little more than I should have on my recent vacation in the Caribbean.  I didn't care so much on the ship, telling myself as I threw money around that I'll just have to deal with it later.  But everything would be fine, I told myself.

Now it's later and the bills are paid, and things are fine but that doesn't mean that I don't want to cry twenty-thousand bloody tears.  I just have a lot little less money now than I would like to have.  Which sucks since I wanted to get a new set of bedsheets, new towels, and a little bookcase, or at least a set of shelves that I can use to put books on.  But no, now I have to save money for important things like food and gas.  How annoying.

It brings me back to my time spent in Northern Ireland, where I really did learn how to live on very little.  I never went hungry, but I learned how to prioritize needs, and at the end of the month I usually didn't have much money aside for food or for electricity.

In the end I suppose I shouldn't be complaining much either.  I mean, what do I know about paying bills really?  Since I live at home I don't pay rent.  I don't pay utilities.  I don't pay for food unless I go out or I want something that we don't have here at home.  The car I drive was paid off years before I even started driving it.  I have it pretty good as far as physical needs are concerned.

There's also the fact that I complain about having no money and yet I go out and buy a near one-hundred dollar pair of... "shoes".

Why, yes, that is one of my gorgeous feet in one of those freaky Vibram FiveFingers.  Why did I get them?  Because they're supposedly really good for running, walking, murdering, or any general physical activity.  Why is that?  Supposedly because it's practically like being barefoot.  It's all about the all-natural.  We aren't born wearing Nike Airs and all that.  Of course, me saying that the only reason I got them is because they're better for you would be an outright lie; I'm also a whore for trends.

I did go out walking in them late last night and it was pretty cool.  It actually was like walking around barefoot, only stepping on little sharp rocks doesn't hurt.  I couldn't move my toes for a while after that though, which means I probably overdid it on their maiden voyage, but I woke up able to feel my toes again so it's all good.  Expect a full review in the coming weeks.  I really hope they end up being worth the money...

The good news is that I get paid next Friday.  Bad news is that it'll only be about half of what I normally get since I was gone for a week.  Ouch.  Oh, well.  I learned a while back not to worry too much over money.  And there's still the fact that I had a lot of fun on my vacation so that makes it all worth while!  (Kill me :'D )
